Last night I went to a CD release party in Ferndale.  Aside from enjoying some new music, a large part of the evening was spent people watching and critiquing their style.

This is my conclusion:  Right now, at least in the concert going 20somthing scene, the majority of folks dress like they’re either from the future or from the 1970s.  All the rest fall in-between the regular t-shirt/jean type and mixture looks.  You know how they say styles are cyclical in nature?  This makes me wonder if there will be a distinct look of the 2000s to look back on and imitate.  So far I’m not seeing any.

This is not to say I don’t like what’s going on.  I think this fashion free-for-all is great.  Do what you want, its all good.  To see a bearded, pipe smoking, cardigan lover walk hand in hand with a silver lamé adorned space queen only makes me smile.

Until I find my true sense of style, I’ll stick with my 90s 8th grader look.
