The Promotion

Last night I was able to join a few friends to see an advance screening of The Promotion, starring Sean William Scott, John C. Reilly and Jenna Fischer.  You all know I love Jenna Fischer from The Office and pretty much anything John C. Reilly has been in, like these.  Can’t say I was much of a fan of Sean William Scott, all those American Pie movies never really hit a chord.  In this movie though, he plays a nice fella just tryin to get promoted so he and his lady can have a better life.  Reilly moves in from Canada and becomes the only obstacle.

Side note: The place I saw this movie serves alcohol.  The price of a drink cost about the same as a movie ticket, so I thought-might as well get one cause the movie is free, right?  Right.  So I got some booze and popcorn and had a lovely time.

I liked the movie, and I’m pretty sure I’ll like it more with a 2nd viewing.  It had that kind of dry humor that gets funnier the more you remember it.  It was a nice and simple comedy, pretty creative I thought with some stuff, looked like it was probably a lot of fun to shoot.  I give it a B+.

I wish Richard would have made a significant change in his life but his poor choices only made him want to make the same mistakes all over again. Jen figures out that Doug lied but I love how she knows him well enough to tell and yet she wasn’t that mad. I like how they ended up making Richard kind of a douche bag though so I didn’t feel bad about him loosing the job. I am always looking for the movie I missed in the theater as I am an avid movie watcher but what I like about Blockbuster is that I can always find movies not only rare but 28 days before other movie services. Not only that but the Blockbuster Movie Pass from DISH Network that is free for new customers gives me one bill from DISH, over 100,000 movies plus games, streaming and I also get 20 movie channels on my DISH employee account as a current customer for only $10 a month. Next on my queue is Thor and I don’t have to pay extra for mail to my home, or Blue-ray.
