the bracelet
After 5ish years of continuous wear, the 90s friendship bracelet I got from BMX Andy that one day in Western Island, once vibrant green and tight on my wrist has finally succumb to time’s unforgiving hand.
This morning I felt a little strange, looked down to see my naked wrist and saw no bracelet. Vanished into the ether.
It’s been hanging on by a thread lately, my sad attempts to keep it taped together failed. I had a feeling it’s days were numbered.
In the end, mine lasted the longest out of everybody else’s, and for that I am proud. Surviving many adventures, jobs and hairstyles, it held on tight. I’ll miss it dearly. <3 -p.
Big Rock ’10
I write this sitting at the desk at my lady’s new apartment facing a window to a backstreet where one man teaches another at first glance how to ride a bike. He may be just trying to get the hang of a higher seat of a road bike, nevertheless he’s been at it, back and forth, for some time. I respect his tenacity, his friend on the other hand seems to be doing more sitting on the curb than teaching.
My point is, tonight will be the first of many at one of my favorite places on Earth, Big Rock Candy Mountain. A magical place where good friends gather, adventures happen, and lots of food and drink are consumed. There’s a good chance we’ll also be riding bikes.
Another side note of importance: in case you haven’t heard, this new Big Rock season of joy is deemed “the Summer of Sangria”. You don’t have to be there to take part, but if you’re enjoying the sweet sweet deliciousness that this magic drink brings, feel free to invite your friend Paddy.
love,

Nanifest Destiny
If you hadn’t already known, I’m in Philadelphia for a few days.
So far its been good times. I went out with city planner folk from Penn on a Christmas crawl in which we went to 3 houses that featured its own holiday theme drink. Kristin’s house was the last stop, we made doughnuts and hot toddies. It was a hit.
Tonight Natalie and Luke are driving in from Cinncinati. The last time we were all together was at Natalie’s brother’s wedding, which feels like a long time ago. It’s also their first time here. I can’t wait to see em. Right off the bat we’re going to hear some jazz at ARS Nova. We’ll probably visit some America-like touristy things too (good thing I’m wearing my “operation desert storm sweater).
If you haven’t heard the iTunes indie spotlight sampler, you should get on that. Its quite lovely. Especially for grey/snowy days.
