Corktown 09
March 16, 2009
Hi friends,
I may not have been adequately prepared for it, but I was looking forward to running today’s 4 miles since last year.
I love the Corktown Race, mostly for the large number of people that come out to run and walk and for the jolt of energy I get when I hear Irish music pumping toward the finish.
So today pretty much rocked, starting with such lovely weather. Mitch came out to run and we had some family and friends come out to cheer us on which was also great. This was my first time participating where I got kinda stuck trying to figure out where to go, then all of a sudden the gunshot went off and it was go time, so being stuck in the crowd took us a minute to get past the starting line. It was ok though.
The only trouble I had in the run came around mile 3, which seemed like forever to get to, when my leg started feeling sore. I felt it was ok to keep going a steady pace, and seeing that I was only a mile away from hearing that sweet sweet music at the finish line I let it all hang out.
Official stats:
I came in 41 out of 61 in my sex/age group and 1480 overall out of around 3000? I’ll do better next year! My pace was 9:24/mile, not bad?
Also, it felt sweet to represent Team Challenge for the first time, rockin my training shirt. I knew there were other teammates there but I didn’t catch em. Next time.
A great burrito at Chipotle Grill topped off the afternoon, still can’t wait to sleep.
