Remembering “Oh” 8

I’ve been thinking about this post for the past few days. I want to take a look back at the past year and highlight was was good and bad in film, sports, music, and maybe throw some food and travel in there too. The hard part will be keeping things concise, and I’ll probably forget about a lot of things, so don’t hesitate to help me fill in the blanks and share what you liked best about 2008.
I’ll start with favorite movies:
- The Weepies “Hideaway”
- The Black Keys “Attack & Release”
- Girl Talk “Feed the Animals”
- Rick Ross “Hustlin’” single
- The Raconteurs “Consolers of the Lonely”
- Sigur Ros “Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust”
- My Morning Jacket “Evil Urges”
- Flight of the Conchords “Flight of the Conchords”
- MGMT “Oracular Spectacular “
- Bon Iver “For Emma, Forever Ago”
- Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack
- Katy Perry “I kissed a girl” & “hot & cold”
Particular concerts that stand out were Girl Talk, Weezer and Rufus Wainwright
This was a pretty interesting year in sports. Detroit had 2 championships, from my Shock ladies, and the Red Wings. My brother Eric had season tickets to the Tigers which was always fun. I saw the Cubs win against the eventual world series champs at Wrigley Field..then went to the Phillies’ championship parade in Philadelphia! I was also on my first team since childhood, playing two seasons of softball with the boys- after not winning any games to getting runner-up in the league was amazing. Oh yeah, then the Lions lost every game.
Lets see…
This year has been a whirlwind for work. It started out quite bleak, interning and getting a few promo gigs here and there. Then I started getting kind of steady working on films which really has been like livin the dream fo real. I feel like my professional life might be on some sort of track finally, it feels good.
Because of work, I was able to take a few trips east to Philly which rocked my socks. Kristin is the best hostess.
For the most part I’ve tried my best to maintain a “monster up” mentality this year. I think I’ve done well and things should only get better in 09′.
Remember when Obama won? That was pretty amazing too
I hope everybody has a lovely New Year!
love,
-p.
